Back in Athens 2004, when I was enjoying the unlimited freedom one has after he graduates from high-school but before he gets drafted to the Israeli army, I used to write daily Olympic summaries in a forum hosted by Israel’s most popular forums website (Tapuz for ze Israelis out there).
Even then I wrote about Oksana Chusovitina that she is really old for a gymnast – she was 29 back then.
Little did I know…
On August 14th, this upcoming Sunday, Chusovitina will compete in Rio 2016 in the Vault final, after qualifying with the 5th best score.
A 41 year old gymnast, who competed and won medals on behalf of the USSR team back at the World Championships in 1991, and who made her Olympic debut in Barcelona 1992.
Un-fucking-believable.
Since she made her Olympic debut – female gymnasts managed to be born, win Olypic medals and retire (for example – the wonderful McKayla Maroney, whom I greatly miss in the Vault competitions), and she is still here with us, and even has a chance of winning an Olympic medal.
Talk about WOW.
