Some Random NBA Thoughts

I haven’t posted for a while and I’m not sure why. I’m actually writing a new Hall Of Fame induction and it’s just taking forever. I love writing it but I fucking hate that it takes so long. FML.

Anyway, just some random thoughts about the ongoing NBA season… Continue reading

Three Lions On A Shirt

I have always been a fan of Italy’s national football team, but there are other national teams that I find myself cheer when Italy doesn’t play. England is one of them. And I also really love the whole English football culture. Their ingenious football chants, the brilliant commentators, the jokes. I suffer from the fact that I know only three languages – Hebrew, Russian and English, and therefore I can’t understand a thing the Italian football fans say or sing 😦 So it may well be that they are just as ingenious as the English fans, I’ll never know. All-Around NBA Seasons

May 11th, 2009 was at first just another regular Monday. However, it proved to be a pivotal date for me, because it was then that I got curious and wanted to know how common was the feat of averaging 6+ or 7+ or 8+ in points, rebounds and assists for a whole NBA season. You see,  LeBron just finished an “All 7’s” season and his fifth consecutive “All 6’s” season, and I was sure that this is not a common sight. Sure, everyone knows that Oscar Robertson is the only player to average a triple double for a season, and Jason Kidd had an “All 8’s” season just two years ago, but I wanted to dig deeper and find every player who had such a great all-around statistical season. Sports Couples That Should Be Made

Well, this is something that I first started thinking about yeeeeears ago. I reckon it all started back in Sydney 2000, when Maurice Greene and Marion Jones were kings of the sprint, and I thought to myself – “hey, they’re both American, handsome, competing in the same events (and owning them), and very similar in age (Greene was born in 74, Jones in 75) – why don’t they hook up and have awesome children with the perfect gene pool to become the next greatest sprinters?”. Well, the trouble was that Marion was already married back then, to shot putter C. J. Hunter. Later, in 2002, they divorced – and Marion married an actual sprinter – Tim Montgomery, but it wasn’t the same – I mean, isn’t it obvious that Maurice and Marion make a much better couple?! Jesus, they were meant to be together. Continue reading

Cristiano Ronaldo and Other All-Time Top Goalscorers

In case you didn’t hear, and I doubt there’s a football fan who didn’t hear about it, Cristiano Ronaldo scored a brace yesterday in Real Madrid’s Champions League win over Malmö, which brought the total amount of goals he scored for Real Madrid to 323, just like Raul, Real’s legen-wait-for-it-dary all-time leading scorer. Well, now there are two all-time leading scorers, and Cristiano will obviously claim the #1 spot all to himself in a few days. Continue reading

Athletics World Championships 2015 – Men Summary

As I was sitting and compiling these lists and summaries, I received another confirmation to what I was feeling during the Championship itself – that this is the best World Championship in terms of results of the last few. So many simply superb performances! AND a WR, something we didn’t get in Moscow, for example. I don’t want to state that it was the best Championship since 2009 or since 2005 or whatever because I need to refresh my memories from those Worlds and I don’t want to state things that I might regret later on, but yeah – this Championship was great. And so we begin the journey through the top 10 greatest male athletes of Beijing 2015. But first… Continue reading

Athletics World Championships 2015 – Women Summary

Well, the World Championships is over, what a bummer. But the summaries are just starting! There was too much action to use the format we implemented for the Swimming World Championships, i.e. to give out bronze, silver and gold medals for each sex. So, we’ll use a different tactic and single out the top 10 of the Championships (well, my top 10. I guess the objective top 10 will look somewhat different. But fuck the objective top 10), as well as mentioning several other great performers who didn’t make the cut. Continue reading

Hanna Knyazyeva-Minenko – You Da Real MVP!

Yes, the Athletics World Championships are going on in Beijing right now. And yes, I’m watching all the competition and all the events like I did in previous edition. However, I decided not to post daily summaries of the action in Beijing like I did for the Swimming World Championships in Kazan earlier this month. Continue reading
