NBA Field Goal Percentage Record
Attention, hoops fans: Record alert! Record alert!
NBA records seem to fall this season faster than my hopes of ever publishing a paper in a peer-reviewed journal. After Steph Curry broke Steph Curry’s record for most three-pointers in a season and Kevin Garnett‘s corpse broke Karl Malone‘s record of career defensive rebounds, another record is about to fall, probably tomorrow. Or the day after tomorrow. I’m not sure how this shit with the time zones works. And how come there is no single word in English for the day after tomorrow?! What the actual fuck? Continue reading
500 Days Of Matthias Sammer
In order to properly honor the half-birthday of one of the least celebrated Ballon D’Or winners in the last twenty five years (well, at least in my opinion. I think he was a great player that sadly doesn’t get the respect he deserves in retrospect), I give you… Continue reading
Why I Stopped Being A Fan Of Yelena Isinbayeva
I used to really like Manny Pacquiao, one of the greatest boxers of all-time, who was also recognized as the best boxer of the noughties – 00’s, by several different major organizations. However, after it turned out that the man is a huge homophob I wish him to lose in a devastating fashion his next fight, which is supposed to be his last, and then that it won’t be enough for him, and similarly to Muhammad Ali he will drag his career well beyond its natural end and continue to accumulate losses.
The Warriors meet Harry Potter
This is so fucking awesome.
Also: Barbosa’s accent (“Harry Poer”).

NBA All-Star 2016 – Part IIb
This is the second part of our summary of the changes in the all-time rankings in the All-Star game’s statistical categories (1st part). However, this is also, like, the third part of my 2016 All-Star summary, or to be more precise – the second sub-part of the second part of the summary. Er. So where does this leaves us? To quote Donald Sutherland from “Without Limits”: “Jesus, Mac, who gives a shit”.
Without Freddy Adu, let’s move on to the stats! Continue reading
NBA All-Star 2016 – Part IIa
Damn , they already started to play some games in the NBA. I apologize, I planned to do this earlier but for the past 3 days I was attending this cognitive sciences conference and on each day I got home late and also really tired (I would say that I was tired as fuck, but I don’t want any swearing in this post). Anyway, let’s review the various statistical categories of the All-Star game and see what changes they underwent, and who among the active players has a chance of influencing them in the future. Continue reading
NBA All-Star 2016 – Part I
Another All-Star weekend behind us. It was a mix of good and bad, but not necessarily the good and the bad I was expecting. It was also Kobe‘s last All-Star weekend, which was kinda sad, but not as sad as Michael‘s last All-Star in 2003. At least this is how I felt. BTW, do you remember that back then in 2003 Kobe was the one who denied us the ultimate Hollywood ending to the game, with Michael’s game-winner-which-turned-out-to-be-not-a-game-winner because Kobe sank those free throws that forced a second overtime? What a stupid question, of course you remember. Continue reading
Elderly Scorers
We have a lot of elderly players in the league nowadays. They are all part of that golden generation that entered the NBA in the second half of the 90’s, and continued to play at a high level well beyond their 30’s. All those Kobes, Dirks, Timmies, you know. NBA.com even has a whole MVP race devoted to old players (Old School Power Rankings).
So… why not devote a post to old players! Well, not just any post. A post dedicated to the best scorers in NBA history after the age of 30. Continue reading
Hall Of Fame – David Beckham
Our first Hall Of Fame inductee from the realm of football is one of my favorite players of all-time, David Beckham. Or simply Becks.
It’s hard to believe it’s already been 2.5 years since Becks hung up his boots, since he was such a permanent presence during all those years that I loved football. Even when it was happening far from the eye, when he played in the US. During his last few seasons he was the last of the Mohicans, the last active players that I truly idolized as a kid. I really hoped his retirement would never come, but I guess no one can beat father time. Fuck you, father time. Continue reading
