This is the second part of our summary of the changes in the all-time rankings in the All-Star game’s statistical categories (1st part). However, this is also, like, the third part of my 2016 All-Star summary, or to be more precise – the second sub-part of the second part of the summary. Er. So where does this leaves us? Damn , they already started to play some games in the NBA. I apologize, I planned to do this earlier but for the past 3 days I was attending this cognitive sciences conference and on each day I got home late and also really tired (I would say that I was tired as fuck, but I don’t want any swearing in this post). Anyway, let’s review the various statistical categories of the All-Star game and see what changes they underwent, and who among the active players has a chance of influencing them in the future. Another All-Star weekend behind us. It was a mix of good and bad, but not necessarily the good and the bad I was expecting. It was also Kobe‘s last All-Star weekend, which was kinda sad, but not as sad as Michael‘s last All-Star in 2003. At least this is how I felt. BTW, do you remember that back then in 2003 Kobe was the one who denied us the ultimate Hollywood ending to the game, with Michael’s game-winner-which-turned-out-to-be-not-a-game-winner because Kobe sank those free throws that forced a second overtime? Ok, so we’re actually nearing the end of this year’s playoffs. Cleveland and Golden State qualified to the finals, and will battle for the title. It’s not really surprising, but still – good job Cavs and Warriors! I’m really torn between those two teams, but I think that the Warriors are a real “Destiny Team” this season. They are destined to win, all the stars are aligning themselves for them. They are playing the best and the most eye-pleasing basketball. They finished with a truly historic record of 67-15. They have the MVP, the most delighting player in the league – Steph Curry. And so far they looked incredible in the playoffs. Let’s say that if you’re saying that they don’t win it’s like some saying that Blanka Vlasic won’t win the 2008 Olympic title. Oh, wait…
Well, I have to concede that I didn’t get ALL of my picks right… In fact, I picked right only 1/5 of the Eastern conference starters (LeBron), and 3/5 of the Western conference starters (Kobe, Unibrow, Steph). But never mind that. My percentage is still better than Kobe’s this season (oh snap!). Now let’s see what we have to say about the actual starters… Continue reading
Hey, Kobe passes! (ba-dum-tss)
So yeah, like you probably already know, Kobe Bryant passed Michael Jordan on the all-time scoring list. Does that mean he is greater than Michael?
Well, of course! Up until this game Michael was greater, and in fact he was still greater than Kobe all the way through the first quarter, but then, when Kobe scored those free-throws in the second, their greatness was reversed. All the books that have rankings of great NBA players in them were called back to the stores to hastily correct the order and to put Kobe before Michael, all the websites that have the same rankings underwent some massive editing, and even “Space Jam” inserted Kobe’s CGI head over Michael’s body to account for Kobe bumping Michael from the greatness pedestal.
